On Tuesday 8/15 at around 9:30pm there was a two-alarm fire at C3 NE PDX. One of the three buildings on the property at 5740 NE Lombard Street, known by the congregation as the Generations (Gen) building, was destroyed. This building provided a space for a variety of church and community events, including kids and youth programs. It also contained a substantial amount of church, pantry and outreach supplies and equipment.
Thankfully no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and an investigation is underway. The Generations building has been boarded up and a cyclone fence has been put up around the perimeter. The main church sanctuary and C3 Food Pantry were not affected by the fire.
Portland Fire & Rescue have inspected the main church sanctuary and the food pantry building and declared both clear and safe for use. The church and pantry leadership team are deeply appreciative to Portland Fire & Rescue for responding so quickly and for their incredible efforts in containing the fire to the one building. Due to their efforts the main church sanctuary and C3 Food Pantry were spared from the fire and will continue to faithfully serve our congregation and our local community.
The plan is to prioritize replacing the youth and kids toys and activities, the school supplies set aside for an upcoming giveaway and the equipment used for the church, pantry and other outreach events. Our needs are great and the most pressing and immediate need is for financial support. Please consider making a donation. The heart of this non-profit is to love, serve and care for our Portland community.
Much love, Kaz Brooks
